Steven H. Leifheit, D.O. | Board Certified in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine

Dr. Leifheit has roots in New York, where ancestors coming from Britain, Ireland, Germany, and Denmark created his immediate family.  His father became a career Army officer following WW II, leading to residences in several locations during his childhood. Eventually the family moved to San Antonio, TX, where he graduated from high school.

Dr. Leifheit completed college at Lehigh University (Pennsylvania) and attended medical school at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, receiving the Doctor of Osteopathy Degree in 1977. He initially came to the Northwest during internship training. He served in Europe as an Army flight surgeon from 1978 until 1982.  He was Assistant Professor at UNTHSC for three years, then returned to the Northwest in 1988 and has been in private practice in West Seattle since 1991.  After many years in practice and many extra hours of training, he was awarded his certification in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine in 2006.

Dr. Leifheit is a member of several state and national medical organizations.  He has served on the State Licensing Board (1995 to 1999), and as a Trustee and as an Officer with the Washington Osteopathic Medical Association since 1994.

Dr. Leifheit is a clinical faculty instructor with several Osteopathic colleges.  This involves medical students observing / training in his office during many months of the year, so that it is likely you would be asked to allow a student to join the Doctor during your visit/treatment.  It is completely your decision to allow such and we trust you will be open to this.

Dr. Leifheit has one daughter, born in 1989.  His interests include photography, history, travel, and many outdoor sports.  He routinely commutes to his office by bicycle.
